Anyone who has had the experience of taking care of a garden will tell you that winter time is one of the most difficult seasons to manage. Being able to stop the snow from covering this vulnerable part of your garden will help shrubs fight off the effects of winter-burn, which will basically cause your bushes to wither away.
Finally, during the winter, there will also be no chance of any flowers budding from shrubs so you will be able to shelter them completely. A good shelter can be as simple as having a simple roof over the shrub. It is also important to note that you do not have to keep a shrub warm in order to keep it alive. All you need to do is to ensure that it does not get covered in snow.
